Update kabelboom. - Update wiring loom.

Hier een kleine update van de werken aan de kabelboom voor mijn Vespa. Ik heb een plaat gemaakt van ongeveer dezelfde afmeting als de plaat waar ik de originele kabelboom op gemonteerd heb. Daar werd de afmeting en de aftakkingen van de kabelboom op afgetekend. Hier en daar werden vijzen ingedraaid om vervolgens te voorzien van elastiekjes. Hieronder worden de kabels één voor één geleid van begin tot eindpunt.

Here is a small update of the work on the wiring harness for my Vespa. I've made ​​a wooden board of about the same size as the board that I have mounted the original harness on. There I signed off the size and the branches of the harness . Here and there screws were screwed in to hold rubber bands. Under these rubber bands the cables are one by one led from start to end.

Het is belangrijk er een werkwijze op na te houden zodat je alle kabels overneemt in de nieuwe bundel. Aanduiden op de plaat met de oude kabelboom wat er reeds gemaakt is op de nieuwe plaat. Zo vergeet je geen kabel.

It is important to work in a method that covers  all the cables on the new bundle. Indicating on the board with the old wiring harness what has already been made ​​on the new board. This way you won’t  forget any cables.

Plaats een V-tje naast elke nummer op het contact waarvan de kabel reeds gelegd en gemerkt is.

Place a V next to each contact number on the old board which cable is already laid and marked.

Hier en daar is er een aanpassing gebeurd. Niet alles is echt ideaal in de oude kabel. Daarom denk ik ook dat de kabel die er in zit ook niet echt origineel is. 

Er wordt veel gezegd dat het nodig is wanneer men een revisie doet om de kabelboom te vervangen. Dit moet ik echt beklemtonen, ik heb reeds verschillende stukken in de kabel teruggevonden die zeker voor kortsluiting gingen zorgen.

Here and there, there is a change in the wiring. Not everything is really like it should be in the old cable. I therefore believe that the cable is not really original.

Much is said about the necessity to replace the wiring harness when overhauling a Vespa. I must really agree with this, I have already seen several pieces in the cable that would certainly short circuit.

Voor aan de kabelboom te beginnen heb ik de stroom kabels die uit de motor komen vervangen en het contact weg gelaten.

Before beginning on the wiring loom I replaced the electric cable coming out of the engine and left out the contact.

De reden hiervoor is dat ik de verbinding in het chassis zelf zal doen i.p.v. buiten. Dit brengt mee dat de contacten altijd zuiver en droog blijven en gemakkelijk bereikbaar om uit te maten.

The reason is that I will connect in the chassis itself instead of outside. This means that the contacts always stay clean and dry and easily accessible.

De kabels werden gesoldeerd en voorzien van een nieuwe isolatie.

The wires were soldered and fitted with new insulation.

Het aangepaste deel werd eveneens voorzien van verschillende lagen isolatie om zeker te zijn dat ze slag bestendig is en waterdicht.

The modified section was also provided with several layers of insulation to ensure that they are impact resistant and waterproof.

De kabel werd vervolgens voorzien van een nieuwe bevestiging beugel en vastgeschroefd waar het vorig contact vast geschroefd werd.

The cable was then fitted with a new mounting bracket and screwed where the last contact was screwed.
